Touch A Truck Post Event

Last Saturday, hundreds of people showed-up at Lake Havasu State Park Windsor 4 for River Cities United Way’s annual Touch A Truck event!  It was a chance for kids to get up-close and personal with a variety of vehicles – emergency vehicles like Mohave County Sheriff’s boat/truck and Tahoe, Lake Havasu City Police SUV and ATV, a fire truck, an ambulance, cranes, bucket trucks, UPS truck, and all kinds of construction and city maintenance vehicles - and the people who run them

The event provided a live DJ, balloon animals from A Yellow Box of Magic, a bounce house provided by Bounce It Up, and several games/activities from River Cities United Way’s Partner Agencies such as Mile Markers, Interagency, and New Horizons.

Featured at the event was the return of “Smash A Car” (pictured below) – where for $1 participants were given 60-seconds to smash a hollowed out vehicle donated by Camel Towing. Following the event, a demolition show was provided to spectators compliments of two front-loaders.

Another attraction was “Diamond Dig”.  For $1 participants could sift a spade-shovel dig in an attempt to locate one of the many colored gemstones.  Those who located one were allowed to keep them and filled out an entry slip towards the grand-prize 1/4 karat princess cut diamond with a retail value of $500 donated by Crown Jewels of Havasu.  Who was the winner of the diamond you ask? 8-Year-Old 2nd-grader Emma Crawford.
